WEST TREMONT RESIDENCES

Completed in 2015, this green senior housing residence in the Bronx was developed for the Acacia Network. The seven-story, 61-unit, ground up construction provides affordable apartments and amenities for community residents ages 55 and over.

This Enterprise Green Communities certified project brings together sustainability elements with innovative green features that result in a highly energy efficient building. In addition to using recycled and renewable materials and efficient mechanical and electrical systems, the building features a recessed green roof on the sixth floor and a high performance thermal envelope.

The architects took advantage of the steeply sloping site to bring expansive day light and outdoor terraces to recreation and program spaces in the basement and cellar, increasing the quality and quantity of usable floor area on the site. On-site amenities include a tenant library and multi-purpose room, laundry facilities, and support services housed in offices on the first floor.

The open plan one and two bedroom apartments contain bamboo wood flooring throughout. The entire building is fully accessible to persons with physical, visual and hearing disabilities to create a comfortable living environment for the older residents.
