Kingsbridge Terrace Veterans Residence

Located adjacent to the Bronx VA, this veterans residence provides 76 units of green supportive housing to veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as those with a history of homelessness and substance abuse.

It is one of two veterans residences funded by the Jericho Project. Together the two are the first dedicated housing for homeless veterans to be built in NY in over 15 years.

In keeping with OCV’s commitment to building sustainably, this new construction is LEED certified. It features green roofs, pervious hardscapes, energy efficient HVAC systems and appliances, a microturbine for waste energy capture and reuse, and low impact materials such as local, recycled, renewable and reclaimed.

With common rooms, gardens, gyms and computer labs, the new residence is designed to create a sense of community among veterans of all eras. Residents will receive professional counselling towards employment, family reunification and mental health, including state-of-the-art programs addressing the invisible wounds of modern war, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury.
